Here's how it usually starts. Your renewal shows up in the mail, you see the new number, and it's up $500, $800, $1,000. You're mad for a day, you mean to do something about it, and then life happens and you pay it.

Both of the clients below did the same thing you'd do: they called somebody who could actually shop the rate. That's the whole trick. Not a better website, not a catchy jingle. Just somebody with access to more than one price.

Client one: $4,200 off the renewal

Nice home, big carrier you've seen commercials from during football games. His premium jumped hard at renewal, he called me, and my team ran his coverage across our carrier list. Same coverage limits, same deductibles, different carrier. He saved a little over $4,200 a year.

He didn't get worse insurance. He got the same insurance from a company that actually wanted his business.

Client two: $8,500, exactly

This one I still show people. Different client, bigger home, renewal shock on a whole new level. We shopped it the same way, and the best quote came in $8,500 a year cheaper than what he'd been paying.

He was saving real money, so I asked him what he'd have done if that renewal had quietly kept sliding up another 10% a year. His answer: "Probably nothing. That's the problem." He's right. That's the problem.

Why this works

I'm an independent agent with Premier Insurance, Oklahoma's largest independent agency. That's not a brag, but we quote more carriers than anyone else in the state, which means more chances at a better rate. Progressive, Safeco, Travelers, Hartford, Chubb, Mercury, Encompass. They all price the same house differently. Your job is not to guess which one is cheapest. That's my job.

The math people miss: folks will switch to genuinely bad coverage on a nice home to save $250 or $300 a year (about twenty bucks a month). We'd rather you keep the good coverage AND pay less for it. That's the whole point of shopping 30+ carriers instead of one.

If your renewal is coming up, don't agonize over it. Fill out the quote form (takes about three minutes) and my team will bring you back real numbers, not a sales pitch. Worst case, you find out you're already getting a fair deal. That happens too, and I'll tell you straight when it does.
